certified to laugh.

My goodness, Terry. You are very advanced over there - you actually
"plug it in".

Many here think all they have to do is wiggle their nose at the screen!

George: good point lets hope it makes a difference. My concern of course
is that in the past the percentage of Dux. users were braillests however
as with computers in general many users are now appliance operators they
don't care how it works they only want to be able to do what they need.
in otherwards plug it in and get Braille.
thanks for your input.

Hi Terry,

In an ideal world, perhaps. But right now, it's hard enough just
figuring out the inner workings of a Word file.

However, there is some possible cause for optimism now that there is a
definite move towards XML file format, especially with Office 2007.

At least with XML, it should be easy enough to identify the text
content.

George.

the real question in this modern age of stable platforms is why can't we
import directly not only from PowerPoint but excel as well. This
question is flippant however producing Braille is important to those of
us who use it we are already faced with difficulties however saving
files importing files and cleaning them up seems to me to be a vary
impractical way to handle this especially considering the power of
Duxbury already.
Personally I don't have the time at work to save retrieve let alone make
the necessary changes required however I do need the documents for both
PowerPoint and excel.

I haven't tried importing straight to Duxbury, but I often cut and paste
the text into word first, section by section, sometimes the text is in a
text box so I make sure I select the text inside the text box, and not
the whole text box.
