Thanks for your ideas. However, I've tried that method on numerous
occasions and it still advances the paper too far and begins embossing in
the middle of the page. When I press the ff key twice quickly, I hear a
high pitched beep followed by the words form feed. Then the paper
adjusts. I still have to wonder if there is a menu setting of some sort
which needs to be changed.

When you put the paper in the embosser, just press the FF (form feed) button on the upper left side of the panel, twice very quickly. It should advance the paper a bit and line it up properly. If you don't press it twice quickly enough, it will feed a whole sheet of paper through and it won't be lined up correctly.
