Hi Scott,

Which Index Basic do you have?  One that speaks, or one that doesn't?

If it is the non-speaking one, you need to use the paper motion switch
(Right hand wide switch) to position the horizontal perforation in line
with the front edge of the embosser.

Now press the FRONT of the left hand wide switch.

Finally press the BACK of this switch.

The paper should now move forward, and the perforation should disappear
under the embossing bar on the top.
