I am looking for some help please!
I have recently purchased a new computer running Windows XP Pro and Office
2003, with Norton's antivirus software.
I have installed DBT10.5SR2.
When I open DBT and then try to open a Word file by using CTRL-O (or the
open function from the file menu) and typing/finding my required word file
I then press enter to open it and I get the following error message:
"Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions:
Check the file permissions and the document name or drive;
Make sure there is enough free disk space;
Open the file with the text recovery converter (C:\program)
By this time Word is now open and this appears to be a Word error
message. If word was already open before beginning the process, it seems
that a second copy of word is being opened.
Duxbury has now lost focus and when I return to it it has end task
messages and tells me that DBTWIN.Exe cannot run.
I get the same word error message if I try to open the file from the Swift
DBT menu in Word.
I have tried this many tens of times always with the same result. I have
used many different word files including some from previous versions of
word and others which I have created especially for the purpose of testing.
If I transfer the file to another machine which has DBT on it, everything
works fine.
Hopefully, someone will be able to give me a solution. I
dare say I only need to make a simple adjustment somewhere and all will
be well - but!!! where!!
