The discussion of six-key typing brings up the question of entering braille
using ordinary typing. If you are training someone who is new to braille
but is already a good typist, you might want to give them the option of
using ASCII Braille instead of having to learn a new way of typing.

I found ASCII Braille very easy to learn and with the added bonus that I
automatically learned most of the BANA Computer Braille Code along with the
Nemeth digits and a few other Nemeth symbols. (Of course this is a US
perspective and won't be as useful to someone who uses the BAUK codes.) A
number of the associations, other than the letters and dropped digits, are
based on the similar appearance of the print character and the corresponding
braille cell so ASCII Braille even provides a good start for persons who
feel the need to learn the dots.
