Hi guys, I have a question about the definition of "Publisher's File." I had thought that what you wanted from the IMAA was to obtain the ACTUAL file the publisher had used to produce the book. This would be part of the "source once, publish many" paradigm being advocated in a variety of contexts, not just braille transcribing. But reading Christine's interesting post about the APH File Repository got me confused. It sounds as though the publishers are producing files specifically for you after the fact. "The publisher typically goes with the vendor who can create the file in the desired timeframe at the lowest price." Except for possibly saving the braille publisher some money, I don't see how this is any improvement over scanning in a textbook yourself.
