Hopefully you have not been bombarded too much by emails on this topic!
One more thing I'll say, is that since Perky Duck is a 6-key entry free
software, you can use it for 6-key entry of music, and can emboss from it. I
use ETC Juliet 120 and it works fine. I have used Romeo 25 and Juliet Pro 60
with it as well. I work for a school district, so I have had access to all 3
embossers.
Duxbury will not show a correct translation line at the bottom, if you or
someone were to read the print in the highlighted row at the bottom of the dbt
screen, but it will show as 6-key entry what each contraction is, in print form
(so symbols, sometimes, rather than an actual letter/word, etc.). Also, you
cannot type in no way to type in the music note, like a quarter note f, or a
rest, etc., and have Duxbury translate it. You would strictly open a new file,
type the title (etc), translate that much, format the info at the top of the
page, then on whichever line is correct, start your 6-key entry.
You can do the exact same in Perky Duck, except your new file is ALL 6-key
entry! No translation.
I hope this helps you as well, because if you do not already have access to
Duxbury, it can be expensive, and Perky Duck should get you by for music!

Thank you for your responses to my question. I will only be doing single-line
format as it is violin music that my instructor has me working on as ear
training exercises. I want my own hard copy of the music. I’ve only been
reading the music code for the last 3 years or so (I’m a late bloomer) <SMILE>
and this will be my first effort at brailling my own music copies. I’ve thought
about getting the Dancing dots software and related software so I can do my own
transcriptions, but again don’t want to spend the money on it right now. Maybe
at some point I’ll get it but I just had to get a new display so don’t want
another blindness expense this year.

I use Duxbury for music braille. You are not entering the visual notes, you
are doing 6-key braille entry....absolutely you can use Duxbury for that! I am
a beginner when it comes to brailling music, so the only music I braille is
single line, single note music like for a baritone part or a soprano vocal part.

the Dancing Dots software and at this time do not want to make the investment
in it. If I can’t use DBT to accomplish this, is Perky Duck a solution.
