Subject: [duxuser] new thread: Word and BANA I realize this is off topic, but I will ask it anyway. I tried to import directly a 30 page document with hyperlinks and could only load about one half of the document. LWhen I converted it to normal style it downloaded or was imported in duxbury with no difficulty. Any help is greatly appreciated. template

Kelly,

DBT 10.5 includes better functionality for preparing braille documents
in Word. Although the templates were developed for the more demanding
rules in producing textbooks, they can be used for general braille by
creating a new template by modifying the DBT "BANA template" (such as
using a different translation table).

An additional Word template is installed with DBT 10.5. The styles in
the Word "braille template" are technically linked with the English
(American Textbook DE) - BANA template in DBT 10.5. Depending on the
complexity of the document, it's possible to format at least 95% of the
document in Word. If it's a straight forward document, you could
probably do all of the formatting in Word. Word certainly has a better
find/replace and spell checker, and the capability to use vertical
blocking, shortcut keys, macros, bookmarks, undo, etc. and so you have
some features available that help improve efficiency. Once the file is
formatted in Word, it is opened in 10.5 using the "BANA template" where
you can do any additional work in the dxp file before translating. The
next DBT release will have further improvements to the Word template.

Note, your Word version needs to be at least Word 2000. Anything older
than that will not work. The templates are only available with DBT 10.5.

Hi, I use Duxbury 10.4. Am I understanding correctly that 10.5 adds some
Duxbury functionality to MS Word which can be used in Word before
importing the document into Duxbury or have I just been missing the boat
on something that has been around a long time? Specifically, what is the
BANA template and where on the web or anywhere else can I look for more
information about it?

Thanks,

Kelly
