Hi Mary Lou,

The problem is that you have a conflict between the embosser settings for left and right margins (left margin 2, right margin 41) and the DBT setting for maximum characters per line (44). The Maximum Characters/Line must equal the difference of the left and right margins minus 1, and also be greater than or equal to the Desired Characters/Line setting. To make this happen, you can either change DBT's Maximum Characters/Line setting from 44 to 40, or change the right margin setting on your embosser to 45. I'd try changing the embosser setting first, but I think either solution will work. Just remember to change the embosser back to the original settings before changing DBTW's Maximum Characters/Line setting. Let me know if you have any problems, and I'll see if I can come up with other things to try. Good luck.

We have recently developed problems embossing interpoint files from
Duxbury. They emboss properly when using the copy command from the dos
command line, but the even sides indent an extra four cells on every line
when we emboss from Duxbury. When we first started using this
computer/software combination there were no problems.

The computer is a Dell with Windows 2000. We are using Duxbury 10.4,
with a build date of May 31, 2002. Our IT people have completely removed and
reinstalled Duxbury and the problem persists.

Following are the settings within Duxbury:
Maximum number of cells -- 44
Maximum number of lines -- 27
Desired number of cells -- 40
Desired number of lines -- 25
Top margin -- 0
Binding margin -- 0
Treat as interpoint
Use com2 [the proper serial cable is in place]

The embosser is a Braille Expresss 150. Margins are set as recommended
in their manual for interpoint embossing:
Left margin -- 2
Right margin -- 41

As I mentioned above, when using the copy command, the even sides start
brailling in the correct cell. The problem only occurs when embossing from
within Duxbury. I have tried new and old files and have the same problem. I
have checked for codes and there are no unusual codes, either at the
beginning of the document or at the beginning of page 2.

Where do you suggest I look next?
