The best way would still probably be to print them onto paper, then scan
and OCR them.  Even then, the results may need some correcting.  The
first scan of the paper will usually be better than the result obtained
by conversion into .pdf by K1000 or other OCR software.

     I haven't tried this with BMP or other graphic file formats, but if
you
have Kurzweil software try printing to the KESI virtual printer. This
virtual printer is used by K1000 and K3000 to convert PDF files. I have
used
this trick to get the text out of PowerPoint slides.
