Hi to all,

I got the following statement when I was reading the MegaDots document:
And I am just posting the message here not to create unnecessary discussion or
to compare two products. I am interested anyone to shade light on Automatic
conversion or handling capability of tables by MegaDots.

"We have fixed a problem with embossing tables that sometimes caused MegaDots
to skip the table or crash. This bug too was frustrating because
the screen would show the correct format, but the Braille output was wrong."
Thanks in advance.

Tamru.

Tables and data in columns, be it with any Braille translator, are not

One of the delights of using MegaDots is the program's handling of columned
materials and tables--many of which are handled automatically. And if you
should change your mind about format, the program allows for other table
layouts without the fuss you would encounter in DBT.

Many DBT users defer to the stairstep method not because it's the best but
because it's all the program can do without going into extreme coding mode.

I still laugh when I remember seeing an employee of a major American printing
establishment for the blind literally curse and swear when she saw how easy it
was to format tables, columns, and exercises and other things in MegaDots. Her
recurring comment was "Do you know how much TIME I WASTED DOING THIS STUFF BY
HAND?"

I think it's interesting to compare the traffic on the MegaDots support lists
vs duxusers. Some months go by without any MegaDots list traffic but DBT folk
get worried if daily messages don't come through.

Let's hope that folks in Massachusetts are hard at work on the next
generation of braille production software. Both DBT and MegaDots are showing
their age.

  Warren
