NCBI Labs will be delivering several training courses in the coming weeks on
areas such as Touch Typing, Smart Speakers, JAWS, and Braille.
All our courses start at an introductory level, and we are constantly adding
to our course offerings to enable participants to develop their skills
further by attending follow-up courses on their chosen accessible software.

Google Nest Mini Smart Speaker Level 1

In this Level 1 Smart Speaker course, we explore some of the features
available on the Google Nest Mini smart speaker and how they can be used to
help people who are blind or partially sighted. We will go through the
requirements of this Google smart speaker, identify the physical buttons,
use basic spoken commands, initiate information searches and create timers,
alarms and reminders.

NVDA is a free screen reader for Microsoft Windows that is now used in over
120 countries and has been translated into more than 50 languages. Using the
power of NVDA means that people with sight loss can continue to be active
members of the digital society, enjoying access to a range of online
services, as well as education and employment opportunities. If you are new
to the NVDA screen reader and would like to know more, this course is for
you.
Consists of 4 lessons running every fortnight. The dates and times for the
