#6324: Haiku boot image fails on HP Vectra pentium 3 computer ---------------------------------+------------------------------------------ Reporter: Karvjorm | Owner: axeld Type: bug | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: Servers/app_server | Version: R1/alpha2 Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Has a Patch: 0 Platform: All | Blocking: ---------------------------------+------------------------------------------ Comment (by tonestone57): You cannot compare Haiku's VESA driver to another OS (ie: Kubuntu). Kubuntu drivers are coded differently and may work. Haiku's VESA driver was coded a certain way which is not finding the phy values for your i815 graphics card. phy should not be 0 for all of your VESA modes! VESA modes that have phy=0 will not work! You will have to wait for Axel to look into this ticket. Short term workaround, use a different video card (many are supported by VESA driver) and Haiku should then boot for you. Look for cards that have VESA 2 or VESA 3 video BIOSes. PCI & AGP cards should work. If this bug is easy to fix then it will get done quick but if hard to find why phy is not found (set to 0) for i815 VESA modes then can be long time to get fixed. -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/6324#comment:16> Haiku <http://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
