Ok folks, I'm back!
The electricity substation at work went "tits up" (to borrow a phrase from
another thread!) and was only fixed last night, hence my silence on here.
Looks like Saturday 21st is not on now, so I can do most weekday evenings or
Sat 28th morning. Let's get this sorted PDQ dear people, it is, ahem, pretty
important... :-)
Toodlepip!
Rick

I can do Sunday 22nd, Saturday 28th, Sunday 29th or weekday evenings or
daytime if pre-arranged because I have to organise work around it.

That’s less time than the Robert of the kings head, so no, nothing to worry
about.... yet :-)

Nick and Rick. Windows of opportunity to raise the aerial in April.
Sunday 23rd, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th.
Or weekday by prior arrangement because I have to organise it around work.

I have sorted the shed..... well almost...... and made space for the
transmitter and any associated equipment so it is under the bench and hidden
away.
I have to admit not knowing what kind of space needs to be made for the
gear. I more or less know the size of the TX but don’t know what other gubbins
needs to go with it.
(By prior arrangement naturally) I can be flexible when anyone needs to
visit to do stuff.

Sarah,
I’m happy with the spend, it’s a valuable asset of ours, and for the
sake of 25 quid, as long as it doesn’t go off every 2 minutes and tick you off,
then go for it..
Anyone else have a view?

And what about the alarm for the shed. Is it worth us spending £25?

Nick is entirely correct here.
We should leave the raising of the aerial until late since it will then
fall into planning application laws.
I don’t think we will receive a complaint but there is always one
busy-body and it will be visible to a lot of houses once the aerial goes
higher.
The thing about planning laws is that we don’t need permission for
temporary aerials of 28 days or less and whilst we would be stretching this
slightly, we can legitimately argue that it will only be there for the 28 days
of our broadcast.
The mast itself (what the aerial is mounted on) does not come under
planning laws because it has been in place for more than 4 years.

Well i think we could test the aerial in its present position on the
7th . This would not require ladders unless it doesn't work !
if its ok leave the total erection til Sarah gets back as if you
recall we are putting it higher than it was before we let it down , we let it
down so the Nabour's wouldn't complain so the later it goes up the better .

Sarah
I understand what you are saying, but hink if we leave it 'till late
April we may be hampered by weather (winds, nasty rainy stuff etc), so I
suggest we schedule it for Sat 7th April. Then, if that day isn't good, we
still have later in the month.
Nick - what do you think?

A number of things......
Nick and Rick - I am happy to be flexible regarding the raising of
the aerial but April 14th until April 21st I am away. I don’t think it is a
good idea to do this too early before the broadcast.
Shed security – The back of my garden is extremely difficult to
access, although certainly not impossible for the determined thief. We can
mount a security camera, which is capable of being monitored and recorded
remotely although this does require constant monitoring but will act as a
deterrent. There is already a security camera pointing towards the top of the
garden. As a bit of additional security I can install a shed alarm.... not
overly sophisticated, but will probably be another deterrent and will give me
long enough to get to the top of the garden with a cricket bat! The cost of
this would be about £25. Thoughts please!
