Thanks for setting this up. It was a lot of fun!
After we finished the Zoom call, I went to the Tesla website to
double-check the specs on the Cybertruck (I should have done that while we
were meeting). Turns out the Cybertruck is an even better bargain relative
to the Hummer than I thought!
The highest level spec of the Cybertruck is the three-motor version and
should be coming out about the same time as the Hummer. It is going to be
just as powerful (if not more so), faster 0-60, and will have a range of
more than 500 miles (compared to the Hummer's 350 miles). And, most
significantly, the Cybertruck will cost $70,000. That is more than $40,000
LESS than the Hummer!!!
All of this just underscores how far ahead Tesla is in terms of efficiency
and cost relative to the legacy automakers. When I said the Hummer will
have an uphill climb, I didn't realize just how steep of a climb it
actually is!
