Hi Barbara,
I do recall hearing your settings and mine being same when we spoke on the
phone, the only differences was the classic layout.
If that’s the way it is now according to George, then why is mine working as you
want it to work?
My mail messages oldest at top and newest at bottom..
I’ll poke around in mail settings see if something could help, also in vo
utility, might be something there may or not change things.

Hi Trish
Yes, you had mentioned the clasic layout. It has always been in classic layout
but maybe with High Sierra, it isn’t working as it did on my MBP.
I do have my settings just the same as you but still all messages are coming to
the top and where I land no matter what I do.
George said this is how it works now so that if I leave mail and come back to
it, I am going to land on top.
I’ve tried changing it to work both ways but it always comes back to the top of
the messages no matter how I have it set.
There was something that looked strange to me when I took it out of classic but
will try again and see what happens.
Thanks
Barbara

on view tab of mail pref, the last item in menu states, show most recent mail
at top,its a checkbox.
I have mine unchecked.
then in the view menu (vo/m) under the sort-submenu, oldest mail at top is
checked.

Now that I’ve changed this, the mail program is still doing the same thing
but now goes to the bottom of the list where my old mail is!
I’m also getting date received and from spoken.
Any ideas?
Thanks

because it is defalt to go to the top of a list and that is where you have
the old mail. You need to change the order of the list so newest is on top.

Subject: [mac4theblind] Apple mail
Hi again
More questions…every time I leave Apple mail and return to it, I am put at
the top of the list where my oldest message is. I have it set for new
messages to be at the bottom but am always returned to the older messages.
The Apple person tried this on his computer and got the same result. He says
it is typical behavior but it never was.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks
Barbara
