Mike,
I don't mind entering the data, and you are right, I could also leave it 
powered up.
I just wish I knew if I can run wpa_supplicant with the SSID and key so I 
could get in.

Hello Glenn,

ok, hold fire for a couple of days.  I have some wifi dongles coming in
the post.  When I've had a chance to fiddle about and work out how to do
it I'm sure we can get you to the point where you won't need to enter
the password each time.

Of course you could just boot it once and leave it on.  It won't cost
more than a couple of dollars a year in power.
