Hello Jonathon,

You're right about the potentially confusing BCM numbering scheme.

So far I've only used wiringpi, a C library for accessing the pins and
not Python.

This isn't because I don't want to use Python but because I can't get
python-serial to work properly with the digital multimeter I am interfacing.

The dmm in question needs dsr/dtr to be held high for the comm interface
to work, because it draws a little power for the opto-couplers. And I
think when I try to use python-serial, either dsr or dtr, or both, drop
after the first byte of a 14-byte frame is received.

I'm trying to create a talking multimeter. Done it as well, but need to
switch on the soldering iron to make the lead for triggering a
measurement. Anyone know a good treatment for second degree burns of
the fingertips?

Mike
