besides taking up gigabytes of space, in my experience having that
full library is a pretty useless thing unless you are building
something which references facts and definitions within Wolfram Alpha.
If you removed it you could save probably 2-3 gigs of space on that
image.

is the entire wolfram alpha thing in there? If it is the full image it
is, if it is light than not. Always make images with light raspian
(light with GUI that is) to avoid these kinds of issues.

Glenn, your image only shrinks to about 10.2 GIG.
You need to remove some stuff from it if I am going to fit it into 8G of
space.
While I can do many things, I cannot shrink it smaller then what is on
it.
Your image is 10745900 K and it needs to be below 7340032 K
you could probably remove some unneeded packages and get to the needed
size.
I can still shrink it as it is, but it will not fit on a 8G sd card
which

Everything I find is super old and my attempts with kernel arguments

failed. I'm hoping pi and Debian are similar since I want to do both
distros (Debian forx84_64).
In the end, my goal is to have speech as early in the boot process as
possible. Then have speech both on the virtual consoles and GUI (via
orca).
Any one actually succeed at this with recent versions of some Debian?

I installed speakup on the PI without Mike's OMX library and I can
report
the following:
1. Speech works but, it is very distorted and the volume is not as loud
if using Mike's code.
2. The default settings is very slow.
3. I will revert to Mike's code as this seems to be a lot better.
4. When writing the image to a 128Gb card this gave me lots of problems
as Windows does not see the boot partition and insists on formatting
the
card. I had to revert to a 32Gb card.
5. I am using Raspberry OS lite for this experiment.
My goal is to have a setup which has speech in both terminal and in
mate
but
with only software which works with speech.
So, back to writing and rewriting cards today.
