bsdgames is actually the first result for doing a keyword search on
"game" and it's in Debian Stable. Admittedly, there might not be an
ARM version of the package in Raspbian, and it might not include all
the games from the FreeBSD version(again, 2048 is a separate package
and only in Testing/Unstable and while the Stable and Testing versions
of bsdgames are the same, the description in Aptitude doesn't include
2048 in the list).
That said, perhaps I should take a listen to hear if any of these
games work well with my screen reader.
Regarding zcode interpreters, I think I've come across a few games
that Fizmo wouldn't play, but off hand I can't remember if those were
a strict subset of those Frotz wouldn't play or if there was at least
one Frotz would play but Fizmo wouldn't, but I guess you run into such
compatibility issues with any kind of emulation.
On a related note, I did try dabbling in inform, a programming
language/engine specifically built for making text adventures a couple
of years back, but never really got anywhere due to not wanting to
fight with the GUI IDE and the command line compiler being cryptic in
its error messages to the point of uselessness.
