Mike, The ESSID is the SSID of your home network, like maybe it is called MikesPlace. And it seems to me that you need to edit a wpa_supplicant file with the SSID and router key, which is the pass key you use the first time you log into your home network with a new computer. I would like to be able to use the wpa_supplicant, with a command line string of the log-in data. I also discovered another tool that is already on your RPI called: wpa_cli This one seems to have command-line options, but I don't understand it. Glenn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael A. But I'm having a lot of trouble with getting the things to work. The two Raspis are no more than a foot away from the access point here because the hub is on the windows sill just to the right of my desk. One thing I am confused about is whether the 'essid' argument to iwconfig should be the name of my access point? And I have yet to understand wpa_supplicant and how I can get my Raspis to connect to my wifi AP automatically on boot. Mike -- Michael A.
