Wow, I had imagined such a display, but I didn't know they actually
existed. Granted, I once did the math that to match the resolution of
a TI-83's Dot Matrix display using Braille display dots would be about
the size of a sheet of letter-size for the display area and from the
price of Braille displays I found at the time, would cost ~10k
assuming cost increased linearly with number of dots.
Sounds like the Graffiti has a lower resolution than a TI-83(96*64 if
memory serves), and lower DPI than a Braille Display, but you wouldn't
get multiple height levels if it was just a scaled up Braille display,
so there's effectively a larger grayscale palette than a TI-83(which
has a contrast setting but can't actually do multiple shades of shaded
pixel if memory serves) or even the original Gameboy(four shades of
olive green) or Gameboy Pocket(four shades of gray). The 15K price tag
is quite the hefty sum though... If I could afford one, it would
easily be the most valueable thing I own in monetary terms. Still,
something to put on the "if I ever win the lottery" list.
