thanks for your email. The list certainly isn't dead. Mike has not
updated the images on the raspberry VI website I don't think, so they
may not work on the pi 3. I was going to produce one, but i've been
quite busy recently and haven't had chance. I'd do a default raspbian
install, then via SSH do the following to get console speech up and
running. if you need clarification, please let us know.
git clone https://github.com/cromarty/ttsprojects.git
cd ttsprojects/raspberry-pi/libilctts/build
sudo ./build.sh
cd ../../piespeakup
sudo ./build.sh
speech will then be heard via the 3.5MM audio jack which is the default.
to change the audio source, edit /etc/default/piespeakup and uncomment
the relevant line in this case, device=hdmi to switch from the 3.5mm
jack to hdmi.
