Hello.
I'm actually thinking of removing any image downloads from the Web site
since they need to be refreshed so often.
It is so easy to get console speech running without needing a download
that there seems little point in them being there.
On another note, I got Orca running on full Raspbian yesterday using USB
audio, but LXDE is totally silent and I have no idea why.
I am currently thinking of creating a Raspbian Mate image. But I can't
put any time scale or guarantee on that because I might get bored with
it again and throw it in the corner :-)
Note that if you use a USB audio dongle you don't need to use the OMX
audio code, just make the USB dongle the default audio device for all users.

speech will then be heard via the 3.5MM audio jack which is the default.
to change the audio source, edit /etc/default/piespeakup and uncomment
the relevant line in this case, device=hdmi to switch from the 3.5mm
jack to hdmi.
