Michael, well Vim, Nano, and just about every other editor is a pain for me,
lol. Yeah, on Linux, getting speech can be a pain, if you donât install TCL,
TLCX, and TK, and make the speech server you want to use, if needed.
Also, at the place where I work, we do use a freaking LMS, learning management
system, Moodle, which does support PHP-Extra Markdown. However, itâs awful,
and Iâve been looking for some way to just have the lessons on Github, with
some YML file declaring the order of lessons, and a way to have quizzes and for
a user to upload files. I mean, how hard can this be? I no, I donât want all
this to be in some stupid database. I want to be able to update the lessons by
updating the files. Ugh! Iâm just too technical for my own good. Regular
teachers would just accept the awful web interface theyâre given.

Well Emacs is a nightmare. It was so much trouble to install. I thought it
would be good for coding but I just could not get over the installation and
getting good speech. Then when I finally got speech I could not climb that
learning curve. How do you display lessons in HTML? That's actually not a
bad idea. beats using those learning management tools.

Oh I love HTML, at least the neat parts. You wonât ever catch me coding
a table by hand though. I used to could only do the very basics, but then I
found freecodecamp.org <http://freecodecamp.org/> <http://freecodecamp.org/ ;
<http://freecodecamp.org/>>, and went through their basic course, and I can
do definition lists and all that now, and aside elements too. I use it in
writing course material, since Github just has to use âplainâ Markdown,
without the fancy Definition list, table, and other nice plugins. I use
Emacs, Pandoc, and Pandoc-Mode in Emacs to convert Markdown tables into HTML
ones within the file Iâm working on.

Hi Jessica I say take a programming course. Lol it's like my mom she wants
to learn the piano but insists on teaching herself. Lol, she just never
gets over certain things like the two handed method. That's quite,
important. I am a believer in forcing yourself through certain things or
trying to understand why I have trouble overcoming certain obstacles. For
example, I have tried to learn JAWS scripting for years always failing.
But 2 years ago I tried again with a Braille display and that just opened
up a whole world of possibilities. Now I don't do any coding or Linux
without the combination of speech and Braille. My brain just works that
way. I am also taking Python and Linux CAVI courses. Really struggling
with the Python but I am hanging in there. I figure I cannot lose anything
by constantly trying to learn the basics. I am still far below a basic
coder.
I do good in HTML though.
Lol!

That would be great if you could. I think I might try to fix it (at
some point) to try to make it speak as nice on raspbian as it does on
stormux.
I am classified as a basic programmer. I can read programs and get an idea
of what they are doing. But writing programs. I just don't know. its like
I get stuck.
People are constantly saying I should learn to computer program as a
career. But up till now I have been avoiding it.
Now though I am beginning to think they have a point.
In any case. Stormux is nice yes. I just feel limited on it. I don't know
why.
I have used the linux GUI before. And I know about the command line. So I
don't know what is turning me off exactly.
Please note. I was messing around with the f123lite version as I just have
the raspberry pi 3 b plus. And not a pi 4.
But really in general. I believe some people will use stormux and love it.
For me though its like my unknown issue with fenrir. I just can't get
connected with it. And I really wish people would stop encouraging me to
try to use it.
Because then I try using it and I get frustrated. And back to speakup and
emacspeak I go.
Its probably those are just the ones I used when I first started linux.
But yeah that response time on the speech definitely needs some looking
into. speakup doesn't let you wait that long.
But no rush. Minus the inability to silence espeakup like I should be able
too. Espeakup is working just fine.
I will take a look at key echo later in th evening. Maybe i can fix it.
Cheer chrys

But I don't think that will be my thing.
I did note screen was on there making that one console into a good number
of screens.
And of course you can install your preferences etc.
Even if I could change the voice (which I probably can) I felt limited.
Stormux will probably be a good system.
I guess I am too used to having all the things I am used too.
I think though for the newbie linux user.
It takes like a second for the key to speak.
Anyway. Same problem with fenrir. I type.
I read something it buffers for a second before reading.
Or fenrir not speaking as fast as espeakup.
I don't really know what is worse. Espeak not silencing when I want it
too.
There must be something because espeakup on archlinux x86 64 on my mini pc
Both slow me down as it stands right now. I will have to see what I can

runs fine.
And so did debian. Albeit espeakup would crash in the middle of reading
something which doesn't happen at all on raspbian.
