Mark and TN birders, At least two of the common crane occurrences have been in central NE. Mine was seen 20Mar99 after a day and half search through an estimated 500,000 sandhill cranes in Kearney Co with Craig Faanes. Another sighting was several years latter in the same area. Both of these NE records were accepted by ABA. Common Crane is on the ABA checklist but I do not know where the accepted birds were found. If a Eurasian, or Common, Crane could be accepted and the Hooded actually breeds a little closer, then why not a Hooded too. Just speculating out loud as don't yet know all of the specifics. Also, to Marcia Davis' point I myself thought the wing drooping in the videos was just part of the preening process, but a preening crane expert would be needed to verify that, and, there are little Hooded Crane gems in all 9 of the videos for those that only looked at the first one. Good Birding All!
