[TN-Bird] Meigs/Rhea Hiwassee Report

On Monday afternoon, a biology lab class from Lee University was at the
Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge viewing area compiling lists of the birds they could
identify. Among the species they were able to see were an immature bald eagle,
a few hundred sandhill cranes, and a mockingbird with a deformed (genetic ?)
bill. Near dusk from the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park, I saw a whooping crane
along with hundreds of sandhill cranes on a mud bar in the Tennessee River near
Hiwassee Island.
