TN-Birders,

The January 2003 issue of Smithsonian has an excellent article on the first
hatched Whooping Crane from the Florida resident population. The article is
titled "Making Whoopee". Two were hatched but an eagle got one early on and
the other one managed to survive. In one eagle attack, one of the parent
cranes wounded the eagle so badly it required rehab help.

Thought you all might enjoy reading the article.
