At noon yesterday I looked out the kitchen window and saw a young Cooper's hawk in the bird bath. From the large size it appeared to be a first year female. She stayed for 20 minutes drinking and bathing, dipping and fluffing, not too confident of her technique and footing in a slippery bird bath (5 minutes of video shot, needs editing). I have posted a similar picture in the past, different bird, different year; hawks need water this time of year too. Richard Connors Nashville, south Davidson Co. TN
