About 7 a.m. this morning (7/26/11) my husband stepped out the back door
and saw a kestrel fly past. As he watched it, a second one flew past.
When he followed them to the front yard, it was boiling with them
circling and perching in a large red spruce. When they were all in the
air flying around the tree he could see eight at one time. They did not
hang around long. This was on the west side of VA 637/Maple Sugar Rd.
2.4 miles north of US 250. Could they have been one family or a teen
gang like we see eagles in late summer? Ideas?
