Andrew Baldelli, Fenton Day, and I will be checking Snow Goose Pool this
afternoon for Garganey, White-cheeked Pintail, and whatever else might be
around, and will post results (I could not find Buff-breasted Sandpiper or
Wilson's Phalarope there yesterday, so we'll look for those as well). The
images of the White-cheeked Pintail I've seen leave no doubt that the
identification is correct, but I couldn't tell the sex of the bird from the
images. For what it's worth, the last two Virginia records of White-cheeked
Pintail were found during or the day after passage of very strong storms
that came up through the Bahamas; the June 1996 Chincoteague record (Paul
and Ann Smith) did not coincide with a storm.
