Yesterday (Fri 10/9) about 12:30 PM I looked into our backyard and was happy to
see a Brown Thrasher out in the open, inspecting fallen leaves on the grass.
Enjoyed watching it for a few minutes although it distracted me from my phone
conversation. Both yesterday and today I heard the high-pitched "see-see-see"
calls that I attribute to GC Kinglets up in the treetops both near Lacey Woods
Park and Long Branch Nature Center in Arlington. So I would say they are here.
As late as Thursday evening, 10/7, I saw 2 remaining Chimney Swifts circling
overhead late evening. I have not seen or heard any of our Gray Catbirds since
I believe last Saturday, 10/3. Seems to me they departed several days earlier
than usual.
