Seeing BLACK SCOTERS in the waves just off the beach on Fisherman
Island. This is the closest I've ever seen them. One was actually up on the
beach, possibly in bad condition but he headed out to sea as we
approached. The RED KNOTS have started to move through and I'm starting to
see SPOTTED SANDPIPER as well. Saw a JUNCO, and BROWN HEADED NUTHATCHES are
still about. My FOS BLACK AND WHITE WARBLER showed up today and a RED HEADED
WOODPECKER near the heron rookery. A SWALLOWTAILED KITE flew over the
office, headed south toward the bridge tunnel. Wish he'd wheeled around for
another glimpse..
The refuge is turning green and butterflies are everywhere!
