Black-capped Chickadees
For those visiting Blandy for the northern finches there are many northern
Black-capped Chickadees coming to the feeders. We have a major invasion of them
with feeders in Frederick, Warren, Clarke and Page counties having 40 to 80%
BCCH vs Carolina Chickadee. At our home feeder in Warren Co. we had 8 BCCH in
view at once. I would love to hear other reports from further south. The
invasion is as good as the one two years ago which was the best by far in a
decade. In an earlier note James Fox posted a nice image of a Blandy BCCH. If
you are not sure about chickadee identification please send me a jpg.
