Our Hawkwatcher, Steve Kolbe, has been documenting the unprecedented
November finch flight at Kiptopeke, with photos and sound recordings...there
are
many crossbill "types" separable by vocalization. In addition to the
hungry Pine Siskins video on the Observatory's General Blog at _www.cvwo.org_
(http://www.cvwo.org) there is a remarkable photo there by Steve of a
White-winged Crossbill and 2 Red Crossbills together in flight. Yesterday,
more
than 200 Red Crossbills, in many small flocks, passed by several of us on
the platform. I look forward to his final report.
