The Black-throated Gray Warbler at the Blandy Experimental Farm in Clarke
County was seen today on multiple occasions, at multiple locations, and by
many people. It was seen as early as 8:30 AM in a pine near the Peetwood
Pavilion and as late as 3:30 PM in the conifers between the Parkfield
Learning Center and the Quarters building. Other fruitful locations
included the arbor vitae near the amphitheater and the arbor vitae near the
staff parking lot behind the Quarters building.
I have posted a sighting log in the Audubon display case outside of the
Library at the Quarters. The case is not locked, and I would appreciate it
if folks would record their sightings of the Warbler or of other birds of
interest. The case is not locked, and I have left a pen there.
A personal 'thank you' to the bird's discoverer, Doug Poffenberger. It was
a bit agonizing to follow the excitement vicariously through my email while
I was out of town this week.
