The fall programs of Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory have ended and I
want to thank our biologists: Ann Gilmore, Sarah Bastarache, Calvin
Brennan, Zak Poulton, Peter Doherty, Bob Chapman and Georgia Karns not only
for
their tireless daily field work, but also for the many public presentations
to visitors, posts to the List Serve and Blogs, which are such an important
part of the Observatory's mission. And, thanks to vice-president Dr. Bob
Reilly of VCU, who also served as Master Bander. Program results will be
detailed in the 2009 Annual Field Research Report, due out in the spring.
Thanks, too, to all of you on the List Serve who supported the Kiptopeke
Challenge team birding competition in September.
Northern Saw-whet Owl banding will continue and the website General Blog
will continue to have regular posts of activities, bird photos (like
yesterday's "quiz") and other announcements.
The First landing Blog will re-start next March.
