Hello Birders,
I spent some time birding the James River Park System today in the City of
Richmond (Pony Pasture, the Wetlands, 42nd Street, and the Floodwall) with
70 species seen. There was a visible movement of CHIMNEY SWIFTS at 42nd St.
between 9:45 am and 11:00 am when I counted 138 (largest group was 43,
smallest was 3). They were all flying upriver. Also noted were 8 PURPLE
MARTIN, and 9 TREE SWALLOW. Also observed here were 3 RED-BREASTED
MERGANSER.
Later in the afternoon from the floodwall I observed a MERLIN fly upriver at
around 3:30.
Good Birding
