Quite unexpected, following its 2nd best day ever on March 5th, was the
hawkwatch's best day today at 204. Clear skies and light north winds created
great conditions after three very cold days with unsettled weather which
probably bottled up the migration. There was excellent diversity at 9
species: BV (26); TV (158); OS (8); BE (3); SS (3); CH (2); RS (1); RT (2); AK
(1).
The season's first American Kestrel crossed the river here today, as did
the first Purple Martin, a female.
