College Creek Hawkwatch in James City County had its 4th best day in its
18 years today...174. The weather has finally allowed birds to move and they
should tomorrow as well, before the cold returns Thursday. The 10 species
today is excellent...the most ever for a day here is 11. We set a new
daily high for Red-tailed Hawk at 12, surpassing the old mark of 9.
Data will now be automatically sent to eBird, as well as to Hawk Migration
Association of North America, as those two organizations just made those
arrangements.
72 Tundra Swans landed in the river in front of the hawkwatch.
