On Sunday evening, there were seven Common Nighthawks around the Air Force
Memorial in Arlington, VA. The first two were seen at 8:38, and the rest
showed up by about 9:00. Because they were hawking insects among the bright
lights at the memorial, their fieldmarks could be easily seen. I watched
them for about an hour, and they were still there when I left at 9:40. I
did not hear any of them vocalizing.
