Hi Everyone,
Yesterday I joined a group of VA, MD, DC and WV birders as we waited to hear
(see?) the Black Rail first seen last Tuesday, May 29th just north of Capon
Bridge, WV. We waited most of the time by the side of the road where it
periodically called briefly (about 1 x every hour). Finally about 4pm we had
the bird call for about 5 minutes close to the road. We were also told that the
best time to come is dusk/evening when it seems to call non stop.
The exact location: Wet field across from a group of mailboxes on Cold Spring
Rd (1.3 miles north of where Cold Spring Rd intersects with Rt. 50 at the town
of Capon Bridge).

P.S. Hope this doesn't bother anyone that this is West Virginia, but it's just
about 20 minutes from VA and quite an amazing inland rarity I thought VA
birders might like to be updated about!
