Lynda and I went to Crewe's Channel this morning for a couple hours and
sat and watched the sights. It is not a real visitor friendly place to
try and watch the birds..no real parking and some traffic on the road.
When we first got there, there were a very large number of the white
herons up close to the road. They spooked a bit and headed a bit
further off. We were also treated to some deer, turtles, and lots of fish.
Birds we saw included:
Bald eagle - 1
White egrets - 40 in water, many more off in trees
blue herons - 12
tri-colored herons - 2
hummingbirds - 2
sharp-shinned hawk - 1
black crow - 1
killdeer - 2
dead catfish - 2
lbb - lots
There were many other shore birds in and around the water, but we could
ID them very well.
I loaded a couple of my pictures from today. The first pic is of a
white egret and isn't such a great pic, but I was really happy with the
shadow on the left wing..kinda made for a neat shot.
