Over the weekend, we checked all 5 of the spots in Frederick Co where we've
had Dickcissels before. We found 3 singing males at the spot where they
successfully bred last year (North of Winchester). At spot 2, SW of
Middletown, we found only 1 silent bird that was Teed up on a mullein stalk
(but it was in the HOT afternoon sun, when everyone should be silent;
therefore, gender unknown). No birds were found at the other 3 spots, but we
will check next week.
