Twenty people joined me for the Dyke Marsh Sunday Bird walk today. The walk
starts at 8:00 AM every Sunday except during the Christmas Bird Count
season. Migrant songbirds were hard to come by today, but we had hundreds
of Laughing Gulls pushing through and a few migrant ducks mixed in with the
Mallards. A few Ospreys were still around and a Copper's hawk perched along
the marsh shoreline gave great. The extensive hydrilla mats provided areas
of foraging for several Pied-billed Grebes. A gorgeous day offset several
areas of avian inactivity.
