Just had a note from a listserve member who was shocked that I posted
perch locations of BAEA pairs and that is exactly how I would have
reacted before we had a nest tree cut down. The landowner who admitted
he cut the tree claimed he didn't know the nest was there. (The
Federal investigator told me they have a plea bargain in this case.)
The good news- the eagles rebuilt a short distance away and had at
least one fledgling last spring.
Anyway the object of locating nests is to notify landowners and help
DGIF/Center for Conservation Biology monitor them.
It puts one in quite a dilemma- what is the best way to protect the
