I believe I saw an Eared Grebe out on the Potomac from the George
Washington Parkway bike trail 1.5 miles north of Mount Vernon.this forenoon.
While
at some distance, it showed a higher back and whiter side than a Horned
grebe. It's face and neck were smudged with black and white. It was alone
apart
from a large flock of Ruddy ducks that has been frequenting the area.
