Saturday October 25th several Gloucester birders met with several Northern Neck
Audubon Bird Club birders and leader Frank Schaff at Beaverdam Park. Much to
our consternation we found the park closed to birders as the park was
setting-up for a Monster Walk!
We moved over to the area behind the Gloucester Library on Main Street and had
very pleasant surprise. We saw or heard 6 of the 7 local woodpeckers - the
elusive Hairy was not seen or heard but we plan to go back and give it another
chance! The Wood Ducks, seen by a couple of us, were another delightful
surprise and one Hermit thrush sat and posed for several minutes allowing
everyone to get a good look.
