Notes:
37 degrees F. at 7am. Great to see both kinglet species today, in
mixed company. First verified sapsucker, good looks. Around 6pm, I
noticed, with the naked eye, a brown splotch in a heavily berried
dogwood about 50 feet away and downhill from my perch. It turned out
to be a female rose-breasted grosbeak apparently settling in for the
night. Not much protection, and I wondered if it was a play on the
light with the berries that convinced her she was well secure. Did not
budge.
