David Wendelken, Diane Lepkowski, John Shea and Greg Moyers joined me to
bird Paul State Forest in Rockingham County late this afternoon where I had
my first ever Golden-winged Warbler for Rockingham County. The bird was seen
near the first major bend to the right in the trail just down from the Red
Barn on property that borders the forest. Immediately after seeing the GWWA I
heard the distinctive call of a Eurasian Collared Dove. Later we had the good
fortune to hear and briefly see a Black-billed Cuckoo. The Va Rails at Nazarene
Wetlands were heard again this afternoon around 4:45 PM.
